Hurricane Names

I’ve been trying to read one book a week for the whole of 2018 (https://medium.com/@Seggitorial/reading-52-books-in-a-year-ec9dc64465b) and one of the books I am reading just now is The Small Big by Steve Martin, Noah Goldstein, and Robert Cialdini. It’s a fascinating book full of little changes that firms can make with very little cost that I have quite a big positive impact on sales/revenues etc.

On the train the other day, the page above caught my attention. It talks about the fact that people are most likely to donate after a hurricane if the first letter of their own name is the same as the first letter of the name that has been given to the hurricane. The beauty of this point is that it is so obvious and yet something that I had never really thought about before. And given that this occurs, it is something that firms can really exploit for their own benefit.
